Giancarlo Busato is a master engraver and heads the Stamperia d’Arte Busato in Vicenza. He calls himself the Wandering Printer because he brings hand engraving culture and printing techniques around Italy and Europe. Through his experience and energy, participants will discover how fun and easy it is to approach graphic art. A fervent supporter of ‘learning by doing’ he will introduce “Dry Point” and give participants the basic skills to create an original subject on the matrix, concluding with the printing stage through the use of a press. Each participant will have his or her own work printed thanks to the master and his or her ability to interpret each person’s subject.
Drypoint makes it possible to obtain illustrations with a velvety, irregular mark: the beard is the metal curl raised and pushed to the side by the point with which participants will etch the plate. In drypoint they are left on the plate giving the strokes a soft and delicate appearance.
