The olfactory workshop by Casa Arpège

During the performance, participants will have the opportunity to witness Marco’s story of how he created a very special essence called “Malafemmina” following a series of events. The performance is structured into 4 parts. In the first part, Marco Todaro will recount the genesis of “Malafemmina”.

Next, participants will pour the perfume onto an unglazed ceramic “tile” that absorbs the essence and releases it over time. In the third part, the ceramic is shattered with a hammer, allowing each participant to take home a piece of “Malafemmina” that will continue to release its scent and serve as a reminder of Marco’s idea and how it was made possible. The performance is an exploration of scent and memory, with “Malafemmina” representing a tangible connection to the past. The unglazed ceramic tile serves as a vessel for the essence, absorbing it like a memory and releasing it slowly over time. The act of shattering the ceramic represents the fragility of memory and how it can be shattered or lost, but also how it can be preserved in pieces and fragments.

The performance is an invitation to engage with scent and memory in a new way, to consider the power of olfactory cues in triggering memories and emotions, and to explore the ways in which we can capture and preserve these intangible aspects of our lives. “Malafemmina” is not just a fragrance, but a symbol of the creative process and the power of memory to shape our lives.
