An unconventional print parade dedicated to 3D printing applied in various fields, from the scientific research field to the preservation of cultural heritage: archaeology, restoration, biomedicine.
A three-hour-long workshop during which the participants will deepen some of the data capture techniques used for 3D printing, photogrammetry and laser scanning; then they will be guided in processing the collected data and, finally, they will print a small object.
These are the main topics of the workshop:
– Introduction to the work and techniques
– Scanning small objects with laser scanners and cameras
– PC processing of the collected data
– Preparation for 3D printing
– Printing and post-processing of the printed model.
Two talks will follow:
1) 3D printing applied in the biomedical field – presentation of an R&D project about the creation of hand prostheses
2) Unconventional 3D printing applied in the field of archaeology and restoration – some case studies will be presented. A pop-up exhibition of 3D printers and printed objects will be accessible all day long.
The activities will be curated by RobinLab – Gianfranco Quaranta, Sole Quaranta, Nicolò Siffredi.
