Words, language, discriminatory epithets, hate speech, slurs, and reappropriations. Through an exhibition, a digital platform, and a live talk, we will address the theme of slurs, questioning how they originated, how they have evolved over time, what their usage is in today’s society, and how their usage can generate suffering or a sense of belonging depending on the context. The goal is to provide young designers and individuals who will come into contact with the exhibition’s content or participate in the talk and debate as an audience, an alternative map to address this complex issue, knowing well that maps are made for orientation, not to indicate a single path. For of a kinder future, where language evolves and we evolve with it, but the main measure to evaluate evolution as positive remains undoubtedly equity and inclusion.
