Technology will (not) save us

The world of art has changed radically in recent years. Since mid-2020, new forms of art consumption have emerged, thanks to the birth of countless virtual spaces and the mainstream arrival of NFTs. A new shake in the timeline of artistic currents presented itself with the launch of OpenAI and the rapid evolution of artificial intelligences, which, through the generation of images via textual prompts, have quickly created an aesthetic and an ‘artistic’ movement that is widely debated and controversial.

NewTab Studio and No panic present an exhibition on Leopoldo D’Angelo’s (known as Dangiuz) work, a contemporary artist who has seen exponential growth in attention towards his work due to the spread of the crypto ecosystem that has shone a spotlight on digital art. Dangiuz’s artworks have been auctioned by houses like Christie’s and Sotheby’s, and as of today (March 2024), he is the eighth most prolific artist on the SuperRare platform.

Dangiuz’s works speak of a technological, dystopian, and romantic future; his work is rooted in the cyberpunk world and science fiction, representing dystopian settings that immerse the viewer in a melancholic vision of the future. A selection of his works will be exhibited, and there will be a discussion about future and art during a chat with the artist.

Will be present: Dangiuz
