My name is Damiano Boldrini, I live and work in Genoa, I am an architect and illustrator.
In 2019 I started working on a series of large-format drawings (60x90cm), focused on the transfiguration and fantastic reconstruction of ancient cities, with a drawing style at the same time minimal and detailed, the result of a personal tendency that led me at the same time to reduce the tools and multiply the details. The purpose of these drawings is to create a kind of metaphorical exotic journey through time and space, through images that take on an ambivalent character: at first glance they manifest themselves as large sculptural objects that convey a certain unscarred monumentality, while up close they reveal a maze of additions and subtractions that tells of a long transformation destined perhaps never to end, stimulating a reflection that, starting from the time that was, attempts to cast its gaze just as far into the time to come.
