“To truly love we must learn to mix various ingredients – care, affection, recognition, respect, commitment, and trust, as well as honest and open communication.”
–bell hooks, All About Love, 2001
This exhibition celebrates the art of the love letter, alongside ideas from the intersectional feminist bell hooks. In her book All About Love, she advocates for an insightful and loving coexistence.
Dear Love,… explores how design can express affection and care, questioning what would happen if love were at the center of design methods and how a love letter’s message could be shared with the world. As a mediator of emotions, graphic design can become a practice that spreads love—connecting us with each other, other species, and even inanimate matter. The exhibition features posters painted by participants that reflect their personal reflections on love, care, and connection.
Critical, involved, and loving—that’s what defines the ideas behind Dear Love,… now brought to life through this exhibition.
