There are things we hate without thinking about them.
A sound, a color, a word. Sometimes just seeing them is enough to feel annoyance, like a discordant note in our visual order.
Then there are the things we learn to hate. The ones that tell us they are no good, that they are wrong, that they should not exist.
But what is really the enemy?
Comic Sans is the most hated font in design. Imperfect, misplaced, ridiculed. But after all, it’s just a typeface. But what if there is something far more disturbing than a typeface?
Words can hurt more than shapes.
Faces can generate more revulsion than the wrong layout.
Hate can be everywhere.
Love Your Enemy is a visual provocation that uses Comic Sans as a filter to observe what divides us. Hate speech and uncomfortable faces, sharp phrases and avowed enemies take shape through the world’s most abused font.
Because hate is a matter of perception. And perhaps by learning to love our smallest enemy, we can begin to look differently at our biggest ones as well.
