Damiano Boldrini

Damiano Boldrini is an architect and illustrator based in Genoa. Since 2019, he has been working on a series of large-format drawings (60×90 cm) focused on the transfiguration and imaginative reconstruction of ancient cities. His unique drawing style is both minimal and highly detailed, a result of his personal tendency to simplify his tools while multiplying intricate elements. The goal of these works is to create a metaphorical journey through time and space, offering images with a dual nature. From afar, they appear as imposing sculptural forms, exuding a sense of timeless monumentality. Up close, however, they reveal a labyrinth of additions and subtractions, narrating a long and perhaps never-ending transformation. These drawings invite reflection—starting from the past and extending toward an uncertain yet distant future.
