Two exhibitions within the twentieth edition of Paratissima to reflect on the role of visual language in creating connections between individuals and communities.

Social design as a vehicle for social transformation

30 october - 3 november 2024

Exhibition

During the twentieth edition of Paratissima, Graphic DaysⓇ proposes within the spaces of SNOS, in Corso Mortara 24, two exhibitions dedicated to exploring the role of social design and its ability to foster shared and transformative creative processes.
Beyond Words proposes a selection of projects related to inclusive type design, a reflection on diversity and the possibility of transmitting messages of welcome and acceptance through chosen words and characters.
Sublimatica is a visual experiment based on the overlapping of textures and shapes, created with the zero-water sublimation technique to think about the impact of art on the environment. Each work is phygital, as it has an NFT counterpart.

Beyond Words

In the age of inclusion and diversity, visual design plays a crucial role in shaping a fair and accessible world; even the choice of words and the way they are presented through type design can influence the perception of certain issues.
The exhibition offers a selection of projects related to inclusive type design, a reflection on diversity and the possibility of transmitting messages of welcome and acceptance through typeface.
On display: Beatrice Caciotti, Zetafonts, Tristan Bartolini, Adam Naccarato, Tres Seal (Vocal Type), Nothing comic about dyslexia, Kyiv Type Foundry, Ariel Brandolini.
As a corollary, some works by graphic designer Anthony Burrill, known for his persuasive and optimistic communication style, whose messages characterized by a strong typographic component have become a real mantra for the design community and beyond.

Sublimatica

It is a tribute to children’s creativity, to the imagination of boys and girls, who, free from preconceptions precisely because they are characterized by a limited knowledge of the world, open up more easily to new experiences and experiments.

The collection starts from the three-dimensional and generative reinterpretation of the tangram, exaggerates its shapes and blends its colors by playing with the overlapping of textures, to convey a message of growth, change and multiplicity of points of view.

The works are created in collaboration with Sublitex®, a leading company on the international market in the transfer printing sector, through the zero-water sublimation technique: an opportunity to think about the impact of art on the environment. Each work is phygital, as it has an NFT counterpart: each artwork purchased is linked to the transfer of the digital work.
