Francesco Franchi is an Italian graphic designer and journalist born in 1982. From 2008 until 2016 he has been the creative director of IL, the magazine of Il Sole 24 ORE. In 2016 he became editor-in-chief at La Repubblica. He is a professor at IUAV University of Venice and also a lecturer at Singapore Management University, Politecnico di Milano and other universities in Italy and abroad. His latest book is The Intelligent Lifestyle Magazine – Smart Editorial Design, Ideas and Journalism (Gestalten 2016). He also published Designing News – Changing the World of Editorial Design and Information Graphics (Gestalten 2013). During his career he has won many awards including European Design Awards, D&AD Awards, and the Compasso d’Oro ADI Award. His works have been published and exhibited in several countries, recently at the V&A Museum in London and at the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum in New York.
