Bolo Paper

BOLO Paper is an independent publishing house based in Milan, Italy. They often work with designers and artists with the aim of producing quality items, artist’s books, magazines, fanzines and prints in limited edition, without obeying market logic and common sense. The publishing house was founded in 2011 by Marco Nicotra, Milan based graphic designer.
The main field of inquiry is the vast world of image and visuals, often with a vintage, trash, sarcastic, and high iconic aftertaste. The visual trick often used is the actual reproduction of images already in our visual background, often from the imaginary of the 80’s and 90’s; these are updated in a new context, often devoid of the original one, with the purpose of creating a small close circuit in the eyes of those who look. Other issues that come back are those of randomness and error seen as allies for good publication and not as limitations to creativity.
BOLO magazine is the main head of BOLO Paper and the one with which the project was born, but many others have happened to it now; to date, they have published more than 300 titles distributed internationally, mainly in Milan but also Berlin, London Ny, Paris, Tokyo, Rotterdam, Singapore and others.
