Ray Oranges is born in Calabria but he currently lives and works in his studio in the beautiful city of Florence. He studied as a designer but, as the years go by and after to 6 months of sabbatical in Denmark, he became illustrator by avocation. After his first advertising campaign for New York Lottery, winner of “Silver Lion” at Cannes in the section Print, he started to work with clients such as Coca-Cola, Il Sole 24 Ore, Peroni Nastro Azzurro, HSBC and many more. Colors and shadows meet with absolute precision in his illustrations: at first glance they show as pure geometry, but then stairs, towers or a woman profile appear from those abstract lines. “I love clean cuts, drastic shadows, precise lines”. Since then he didn’t stop to poke around in the world where he takes its inspiration: architecture, design, photography. In his library you can find books on Charles Sheeler, Lucien Hervé, Franco Fontana and many more.
