Thanks to the digital technologies we now have plenty of writing tools that help us create our texts, and yet we feel the need to get closer to the world we thought was gone: the pleasure of touching the paper, of hearing the sound a writing tool makes on a rough surface, of writing by hand and leaving our own mark. Through evidence and examples of some Italian experts (including Luca Barcellona, Alex Barocco, Francesca Biasetton, Marco Campedelli, James Clough, Giovanni de Faccio, Anna Ronchi) we will try to
understand how the calligraphy, starting from its traditional forms, can be used as a visual communication tool or as a means of self-expression.
